Obituary of Sharon Kolibaba
KOLIBABA, Sharon Lee 79
April 29th, 1940, Portland, Oregon
January 16th, 2020, Milwaukie, Oregon
Sharon Lee George was born in Portland, Oregon to parents Volan and Loretta George on April 29th, 1940. She was sister to Larry, Volanne, Pattie, and Robert. Sharon attended Tillamook Elementary, Ardenwald Elementary, Milwaukie Jr. High School, and she graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1958.
Sharon met the love of her life, George Kolibaba, while roller skating at Oaks Park. The two were wed on March 10, 1962, at Milwaukie Church of Christ. They were blessed with three children – Robin, Ric and Renee.
Sharon kept a home, lovingly cared for her family, and she worked outside her home as well. She worked for 5 years for Prudential Insurance and then went on to a 32 year career as a tax consultant for H&R Block.
She was a lifelong Oregon resident – throughout her life, she resided in Netarts, Oregon and Milwaukie, Oregon.
Sharon was a devoted member of Milwaukie Church of Christ.
Sharon was an avid reader. She enjoyed travel, especially to the beach. She embarked on many memorable ocean cruises.
It has been said that Sharon was someone who would “rise above the noise” and not let things discourage her or get her down. Sharon led by example. She was dedicated to her family and always maintained social acceptability.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, co-worker, and friend. She will be missed by all.
She is predeceased by her mother Loretta Aldridge, Volan (Vincent) George (father) and Iral Aldridge (step-father).
Sharon is survived by her loving husband George; daughters Robin and Renee Kolibaba; son Ric Kolibaba; brothers Larry George and Robert Aldridge; sisters Volanne Stephens and Pattie McAlister; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and beloved pet companions – cats L.C. and J.R.
A private memorial gathering will be held to celebrate her life and memory.
Sharon will be laid to rest in Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial’s Remembrance Garden.
Remembrances may be made to Oregon Public Broadcasting and Oregon Food Bank.
