Obituary of Mickey H. Poff
On Saturday, February 29, 2020 Mickey Hayden Poff, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend and teacher, peacefully passed away at the age of 81 surrounded by his family. Mickey was born on November 6, 1938 in Mountain View, Arkansas to Wilburn and Nellie (Tubbs) Poff. He attended high school at McKenzie High School in Finn Rock, Oregon where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball all four years. He played in the Shrine football game in 1956 and 1957. He graduated in 1957 and enlisted in the Army as a Paratrooper in December of the same year. He then attended Southern Oregon College and graduated with a Liberal Arts degree in 1965. In 1963 he met his wife, Kathy (Elia), and they have been happily married for over 54 years. Mickey started his working career as a logger before becoming a teacher in the Reynold’s School District from 1968 – 1998. In his free time, Mickey enjoyed working on his farm in Damascus as well as doing countless other projects. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his three sisters: Marilyn Keller, Judy Melendrez and Dee Janz, his four children: Michele, Kerri (BJ) Norell, Aaron (Tyra), and Sara (Ben) Litton, and his four grandchildren: Cody, Blake, Karli and Camryn. The memorial service is to be held at Christ the Vine Lutheran Church 18677 SE 187th (Hwy 212) Damascus Oregon at 4:00, Sunday, March 8th.
