Obituary of Jean Schnell Rodway
Jan 12, 1930-April 9, 2020
Jean Rodway passed away in SW Portland from what she called TMB (Too Many Birthdays). She enjoyed life, especially when life was shared with family and friends.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, she and George Rodway immigrated from their home in Camrose, Alberta with 3 children so their youngest daughter could attend Tucker Maxon Oral School. They arrived without a job but knew they would make a good life here and they did. After raising the children, Jean enjoyed working in administration as “Jack of Most Trades" at Trinity United Methodist Church and Tucker Maxon Oral School.
Jean loved people, car trips to their special places in Canada and the US as well as some international trips. Most of all she loved family get togethers with her siblings (Joyce Moore, Bob Schnell and Marilyn Lawrence) and families and with her children Dianne Rodway (John Becker), Bruce Rodway (Suzette) and Susan Rodway Fairweather (Mike McNeil), her extra special grandchildren (Lauren and Kirsti Fairweather and Todd Becker) and their partners. Jean was known for her laugh, her delicious cooking, baked goods, needle work, and all around perfect homemaker skills. She loved desserts and fortunately she also loved walking.
Celebrations of her life will occur in Portland and also in Camrose, post pandemic. If desired, please honor her with a donation to any welcoming and inclusive organization. There are many; such as Habitat for Humanity Portland Metro East, Oregon Food Bank, Tucker Maxon or one of your choice.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Jean
